Should I winterize or not?

Ok I live in Eastern NC. Forcast calling for lows around 29-30 early next week then warming back up. Of course this weekend it is calling for rain then turning cold. Should I go ahead and rush through the process of winterizing or do you think I would be ok?

RE: Brakes Smoking

Thanks for all your help. Here is the deal. Shouldn't I have the GMC dealership that move this brake control pay for any damages (if any) to the RV? Should I have my RV guy inspect and re-install the brake control and then service the RV, fixing any problems and then take the bill to the dealership? I am not one to cause problems but this would be at least $75 plus for me to have my RV guy come out and fix the problem. What would you do?

RE: Brakes Smoking

I did have the brake controller moved from the Suburban to the Denali. Emergency brake not engaged. I know the emergency brake would lock the wheels and that did not happen. Thanks.

Brakes Smoking

Today I hooked up my TT to my recently purchased 2005 GMC Youkon XL Denail. I wanted to try out the Denali to see how it would handle the TT. (2006 Palomino Throughbred T-271 4800lbs dry). I had been using a 2002 Chevy Subruban 2wd so I know the Denail can handle it. About 3 miles or so later the brakes are blistering hot and smoking. (Driver on road warn me of the smoke). I feel the problem is in the connector cable reciever to the Denail. Could I have plugged it in wrong to the DV? I did notice the plug reciever (dont know exactly what it is called) had some green tarnish covering the metal pieces. I do not believe that anything is wrong on the TT end of the situation. How would I go about solving the problem? Should I clean the connectors maybe using baking soda? and then hook back up and try again? Would I need to check the grease to make sure it is not burned? I do not know the type of brake controller that I have but I did notice that it was giving me an "OC" messeage. Could this be damaged? Any advice would be apprecaited since my knowledge level in this area is basically none. Thanks.

Why did I do that.?

Just returned from a weekend at the Natural Bridge KOA. Since time was an issue I decided to not take the TT but instead stay in a kabin. Well the kabin was fine but the folks staying near our kabin was a headache. I hope for their sake this was there first (and hopefully last)camping trip. Friday night they stayed up outside by the campfire joking, laughing and carrying on until around 2AM. The noise the space heater was enough to drown out most of the noise. Being the nice person I am did say anything to the KOA folks about this. Well that was my mistake...Saturday me and DW returned about 9pm and from that point until about 11pm these same folks were again around the fire pit...sharpening their profanity skills, being loud and get this playing their music from there car wide open. Obviously I call the KOA folks and had they said they would take care of it and give them a warning. Some 30 minutes later KOA finally did something and the music stopped however, these folks continued to stay up until well after 2AM slamming the kabin door, talking loudly wo disregard for folks who were trying to sleep. What started having the potential at being a great weekend ended up being 2 very long nights. Oh by the way the KOA was packed and I did decide that I would not travel without my TT or find a motel from now on. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

GM Certified Vehicles- are they worth the money

Ok it looks like I am going to upgrade from my 2002 Chevy Surburban to a 2005 Gmc Youkon xl denali. Question is for $500 I can have the Denali certified. This basically means 12month/12k miles bumber to bumber warranty. 5yr/100,000 powertrain warranty (about 21 months remain with about 50k miles remaining- so i will run out of time before the miles). other stuff like road side service. DO YOU THINK IT IS WORTH THE $500 OR NOT! I am not going to be able to neg. this into the deal since I have a great price now as it is. It a matter of if I want the certification or not. Any advice or folks that have taken this option would greatly help.

RE: Tow Vehicle Upgrade?

Thanks for all the help. Is there any difference between the AWD and 2WD as far as towing?

Tow Vehicle Upgrade?

I am considering trading my 02 Chevy Subruban for a 2005 GMC Yukon xl denali. my bur is 2wd with 5.3L and the denali is awd with the 6.0L. I guess the question is what difference should I expect and what kinda of gas mileage difference would there be. Currently I get about 15/16 around down and 10/11 towing with the 02. Also, would the AWD verus the 2wd make a difference? Thanks!!

The Al Bundy Vacation

Maybe with all the gloom and doom with the economy I am thinking about going on the Al Bundy vacation where he sits at home in the same position with the same hand in his belt or pants. I could dream about what it is like to be camping at the finest RV resorts, eating steak and ribs each night and reading the latest issue of biguns magazine. Oh well just a humerous throught I had while sitting at home wishing I was camping at the beach with my wife Peggy.

Gas price jUMP!

Gas went from $3.65 to $4.09 in less than 7 hours. Glad I decided to stay home this weekend. What's your prices? I live in Eastern NC half way between Raleigh and the coast.

RE: A weathered "new" trailer

I purchased a 2006 in March 2007. Sit on lot for about 13 months. Never had any problem and saved about $4500 off of new best cash price. Also, if they offer a second year warranty that is full coverage (mine was $100 extra) I would go that route. For $100 or $150 it is a piece of mind issue. Enjoy!!

Preparing TT for Hurricane

When a hurricane hits would or could you just hook up the tt to my tv? Would this be enough to keep in place? Trailer weights 4800 dry but I have my stuff on it. Tv is 2002 chevy suburban. What do you think?

RE: preparing TT for possible hurricane

Could you just hook it up to you tow vehicle? I think that would be enough to hold it down. What do ya'll think? I am in eastern nc and it looks like we may be facing a storm this weekend or so.

RE: Palomino Thoroughbred 26BHSL - quality??

I have the T-271 model. Had it for about 1.5 years and have had no problems. I do see where some areas were miscut then made to fit kinda. Ours have triple bunks with slide out kitchen and sofa. So far I am very please and it pulls great. Price was 16,700 out the door. I purchased a 2006 in march 07.
